So how do i change the wordpress installation from http://http//example.com to my actual website? And how can i change the config files? Thank you

The easy way? Install the plugin “better search replace”. In all tables, search for http://example.com and replace with http//mywebsite.com.

Tried this and did not work. Any other options? Everything worked fine until the 5.5 update and now everything is reading my url as http://http://example.com

You can put URLs into wp-config.php. see https://wordpress.org/support/article/editing-wp-config-php/#wp_siteurl
