Every update I get locked out

I used to love this plugin. It is very effective. BUT recently (for the last 3 months) everytime there is an update for it I get locked out of my webpage and cant log into it. It hides the login and gives me a 404 error notice (the webpage is set up for manual updating of plugins). I never set up cerber to function in this manner. I specifically set it up to not hide the login page because my boss wanted it that way. Yet it automatically locks out and gives a 404 error at every update. Its frustrating and getting extreemly annoying. Enough to make me delete it and try something else.
To remedy it I have to completely delete cerber from the back end. Then I can log in as normal and re install it. But I have had it with this nonsense and am looking for another product.
