?? Every popup plugin links to Google

  • Hi All- I have a strange one for you. My client wanted a popup. I chose the PopUpAlly plugin. It’s MailChimp friendly, easy to set-up, use, and it works fine, EXCEPT… when I click on the popup, a new tab opens to my client’s G+ page.

    I first thought the MailChimp code was wacky, but no. Then I thought PopUpAlly was wacky, but no. The same result happens with Displet Pop and WP Popup. They all do the same this. All popups, regardless of the plugin will open a new tab and that tab is my client’s G+ page. I have never seen anything like this before.

    FYI- I did not build the page. I maintain it. Could this be something in the WordPress stylesheet? Ideas? Suggestions?

    You help in figuring this out is appreciated.

    It happens in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. All three- same result. New tab to G+ page. Hmmm…

    What’s the site URL where this happens?

    Which plugin is it?

    Thank you for replying so quickly. Site url is https://www.mrbuildsolar.com. I used the PopUpAlly plugin. As I said, this happens regardless of which popup plugin is used…

    I couldn’t get any pop-ups to do that – but I’m not sure I found any pop-ups either – the image on the home page seemed okay. Where is one?

    Thanks for your reply. I had turned the PopupAlly plugin OFF late Friday due to the issue of opening a tab and linking to Google+.

    I turned it back on just now (SUNDAY AM PST.) PopupAlly is active. I will leave it on for the day so you can observe what I am describing.

    Yep, got it! No idea why though. Looks like there’s a plugin that opens all external links in a new window?

    Maybe try deactivating that and/or any other plugins?

    Or switch themes to see if it’s in there?
