• I am currently editing some posts on a WordPress installation. Every time I update the post I get an email asking me to moderate a comment. If I approve it, there is no comment on the page just my latest edits. If I link to another page, I get asked to moderate a pingback. I’ve not had this on any other WP installation. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening and how to stop it.

    Thanks!

  • The pingback request is expected behaviour, but the first issue is an odd one. Are there any other details in the email?

Ah, my mistake – they’re all pingback emails. I hadn’t looked carefully enough at the emails. I just registered the ‘please moderate’ emails after doing an update. But should there be a pingback request from the site itself? Isn’t WP clever enough to know the links are from the same site? I don’t think this has ever happened on my WP installations.

I will just disable pingback notifications.

Thanks for replying and making me look more carefully at what was happening!
