    Hi Hector,
A great plugin with a great impact on my visitors’ behavior, thank you. Plus, I subscribed the support forum and I can see that you’re very responsive. Unusual and I appreciate it a lot!

Every 4 weeks, I get suddenly “No data so far”. I don’t touch the plugin, wether in the appearance-widget’s settings nor in the direct settings. Last month, after trying out so many different stuff, it started to work again but I don’t know WHY.

I went through the search and checked the response to the same topic and tried following (see below) but it didn’t help. Then I cleared the cache… then I came here and opened a new topic. Any idea what I could have done and should do to fix my problem?

    Thanks

“Go to Settings > WordPress Popular Posts > Tools.
Under Data, find the Ajaxify widget dropdown, set it to Enable and click on the Apply button below to save changes. This will make WPP load the widget via AJAX and thus avoiding being cached by WP Fastest Cache”

    Hi there!

A great plugin with a great impact on my visitors’ behavior, thank you.

Thank you, you’re very kind ??

I’m just doing what I can, thanks again!

Alright, well the plugin shows that message when:

    • WPP is set to sort posts by views and your posts haven’t been visited by anyone within the selected Time Range.
    • WPP is set to sort posts by comments and your posts haven’t been commented by anyone within the selected Time Range.
    • WPP is set to sort posts by views and for some reason the plugin couldn’t / can’t track visits.

The first two scenarios are pretty self explanatory. With the last one though usually there’s a third party plugin involved: a caching plugin such as WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, etc. that’s not configured properly; or a security plugin installed with a very strict configuration; or, in very rare cases, another plugin that somehow conflicts / breaks WPP.

So, which one is your case? ??

Let’s begin with the usual questions:

    • What’s your site’s URL?
    • Which plugins -apart from WPP of course- are currrently being used on your site?
    • How are you using the plugin? As a sidebar widget? (based in what you said I’m guessing the answer is “yep”, just making sure.)

    Hi Hector,
Scenario 3. (I’ve got around 150-200 visits per day)
    Sidebar yes.
Many other plugins, but nothing new during the lady weeks. No cache plugin. However, I had recurrent problems with backup buddy, maybe is this the one who interfers with WPP.

    I hope this helps.

    Hey Catherine!

Just checked one of your posts and while browsing the source code I noticed that WPP’s Data Sampling feature is currently enabled on your site.

While not a bad thing per se since it’s there to reduce the number of database writes by WPP (and thus helping your site’s performance), it is also a feature recommended for large sites (eg. 125k-250k visits per day). Since your site doesn’t get that many visitors yet you should consider disabling the Data Sampling feature or at least setting the Sampling Rate to a lower value (eg. anywhere from 2 to 5 should be good enough for now.)

Keep an eye on your stats to see if it helps.

Hi again and hank you for your suggestions,
I disabled it this afternoon. It doesn’t look like better.
I also tried to desactivate and reactivate. No success either.
I just wonder why it worked well, and then not anymore.
Any idea what I could try?

PS: I thought that this stat could interest you. With WPP, the site gets 15-20% more visits thank an increase in the number of pages viewed.

Now we’re running into a different issue: see this screenshot.

The 403 Forbidden error shown there says there’s something blocking access to your wp-admin folder, preventing plugins that rely on Ajax to do their thing. In our case, WPP’s page views tracking script can’t update the views count of your posts / pages.

Do you have a security plugin installed on your site? (eg. WP Spam Shield)

    I see… I use Askimet against Spam.

For your info, I got the plugin running again. Depending on the setting, it shows 7 posts (all time) or only 1 (last 7 days). Not perfect but it looks better than no data so far.

That’s what I did during the last days: emptying the cache (last week). Enabling Ajax (last week). Disabling Data Sampling (yesterday).

Akismet isn’t the problem. I meant “WP Spam Shield” as an example (which is a security plugin, by the way).

What plugins do you have installed on your site?

It’s -probably- WP-SpamShield. A couple of users have reported issues with it and WPP in the past weeks, you’re probably on the same boat.

Here’s a temporary workaround, it’ll be included with the next version of WPP so you’ll only have to do this once.

Done. It doesn’t look different that this morning but I assume that the problem will not happen again. A great thank you, I donated on April 5 but will do it again right now. I also encourage anybody to follow my example: Hector’s support is amazing!
