    Hi

Seems there is a bug with new version 6.4.0.1 After update, events posts and main archive events page break and there is no option for custom event template in settings/display. I tested with Elementor deactivated and there is no error. If Elementor plugin is active, custom event template for my theme does not work and does not show up in settings and there is no dropdown list for events templates at all.

    Please fix this.

Edit: This issue can be replicated in a few minutes with default WP theme and Elementor and Events calendar plugin active. I tested already on few WP installations.

    Hello @rayoflightthemes.

We have some great news! The issue with The Event Calendar no longer appearing with Elementor Theme Builder has been fixed in the latest release of our plugins.

Please update all our plugins to their latest versions to apply the fix to your site.

As always, we recommend testing updates on a staging site first and ensuring you have a recent backup, but everything should go smoothly – https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/creating-and-using-a-wordpress-staging-site/.

    Best regards,

    Frank

    Hi Frank,

Unfortunately, the issue is still there for single event pages, missing information and header.

Option for templates is now back. When using custom created template for events, archive page now displays well with the custom template but the issue with missing information on single event pages is still there.

    Hi

Let me consult with the team regarding this matter. In the meantime, if you have not already provided the following versions, please do so in order for us to conduct a more thorough investigation of the issue.

    • Elementor
    • Elementor PRO
    • Theme

Additionally, it would be greatly appreciated if you could provide the URL of a specific event or a screenshot of the issue for further assistance.

    Elementor version: 3.21.6

Theme affected: all themes including default WordPress themes.

I can’t provide URL because I didn’t update plugin on live website. Single event post page does not show meta information if Elementor is activated so all the event single posts pages are affected.

I was checking the Events plugin to find out what is wrong and seems that single event post doesn’t display through single-event.php file as usual, when Elementor is active, but through default template file. That is why it doesn’t show meta information, functions for that are in single-event.php file, so it only displays content.

    Hi @rayoflightthemes

It appears that the integration we included in the most recent version is not compatible with your template. You mentioned that you’re using a custom template, could you provide us with a link to the page where we can see the specific template you’re using and how it’s being implemented? This will help us reproduce the issue on our end and investigate it further.

    Hi @d0153

I’m testing again Elementor and Events plugins activated with default WordPress theme.

My custom theme has customised templates for Events plugin and that is why it appears like dropdown list of templates was back again.

When testing with default WP theme, dropdown list with templates is still not there. There are also differences on two WP installations.

    1. This is default WP theme test: https://rayoflightthemes.com/test1/event/test/, PHP version is 8.2.18, it does have meta information on single event but it does not have dropdown list of templates: https://imgur.com/a/DOXxNL1

    2. On my local host, PHP version is 7.4.26, it does not have dropdown list for template and it does not have meta information on single post.

Please fix the plugin errors for default WP theme.

    Hi @rayoflightthemes

At the moment, we do not fully support FSE themes, which is why you won’t find a dropdown for the templates in the “Events > Settings > Display” page when you’re using an FSE theme like WP’s 2024 theme.

Could you provide additional details on the customized templates you were referring to? Is this related to Elementor functionality? or is this limited to template override?

    (@rayoflightthemes)

About dropdown for templates. I don’t know was it available before in default WP themes. Dropdown for templates now appears in premium theme I use so I’ll consider this problem resolved.

The main problem is with single post event, if created with Elementor, single event does not display meta information. When created without Elementor, it does display meta information.

Events single post without Elementor: https://rayoflightthemes.com/test1/event/test/

Events single post with Elementor: https://rayoflightthemes.com/test1/event/test-event-elementor/

This problem exists in every possible theme, from default ones to premium ones. Already few customers here explained the same problem. Do you have any information when this will be resolved?

    Hi @rayoflightthemes

I’m trying to replicate the issue on my end by creating a new test site, but it’s working as expected on my end.

    See- https://share.getcloudapp.com/Z4uNqdqG

Could you check your Elementor’s Theme Builder if there are other templates applied to Single Events page? Also, please make sure that you’re using the “The Events Calendar – Dynamic template” and it’s applied to Events.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    (@rayoflightthemes)

There is no other templates for single event pages.

I don’t want to use anything else but to have plugin to work as before.

    Here is another example.

    1. Premium theme with older Events plugin version, page with Elementor, meta information visible: https://rayoflightthemes.com/wordpress-themes/politit-wordpress-theme/event/human-rights-conference/
    2. The same theme on test website, page with Elementor, no meta information: https://rayoflightthemes.com/test1/event/test-event-elementor/
    3. The same theme on test website, page without Elementor, visible meta information: https://rayoflightthemes.com/test1/event/test/

Do you have developer who can check these examples?

Hi @rayoflightthemes I think the test event on #2 is using the “The Events Calendar – Starter” Elementor template. Could you navigate to Templates > Saved Templates > Single Event Template, check if you can see the “The Events Calendar – Starter” template? If so, please edit it with Elementor and check if the necessary event widgets are added to it. If not, please add them accordingly, save the template, and see if that resolves the issue.

    See- https://share.zight.com/o0uLqJw1

If you could not find the template, could you provide a screenshot or screen recording on what you see when you go to Templates > Saved Templates? We want to check it further on our end.

    (@rayoflightthemes)

    @d0153

Test event page on #2 uses default-template.php plugin’s file instead of single-event.php file as it was in older versions. I said this before already, that is the reason for error, please check that.

I have the starter template as you explained: https://imgur.com/a/OU5PIaA but I didn’t use it before and I don’t want to. Single event pages should not break and lose data if plugin is updated.

    Hi @rayoflightthemes

Let me share this with the team, and I’ll update you once I know more.

In the meantime, please try to got to the Events > Settings > Display, select a different events template, save it, and then choose the Default Events Template, then save it again. Check if that helps.
