I’ve spent 3 days trying to use this plugin. I tried everything I can think of: deactivate all other plugins, delete all unnecessary pages, change theme to default WP theme, Use WP Optimize to optimize all tables, save permalinks, debug from the host interface, etc. The plugin creates the event, but can’t find it. I’m using the default slugs (“events” for list, “event” for single, and no other pages with those names). I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin at least 6 times. It never creates the wp-tec tables. All I can get on the listing page is: “There are no upcoming events.” All I get on the single event page is “Page Not Found. The page you are looking for does not exist, or it has been moved.” I give up. I only gave one star because 0 isn’t an option.

    Using Hostinger WordPress.

    Hi @geh39 ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

This looks like a symptom for sites that have not successfully completed the migration to the new event data system storage (see Migrating to the New Event Data System). Are you installing The Events Calendar plugin for the first time on your site?

Also, have you tried enabling WordPress debugging (see How to Enable Debugging in WordPress), and check if there were any errors thrown out in the debug log when activating the plugin?

    Hi there,

It appears that we haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’ll assume that the matter has been resolved. If you need any more help, feel free to start a new thread and we’ll be happy to assist you.

I apologize for the delay; I was away for the weekend. The problem is not resolved.

I haven’t done any migration to the New Event Data System. I don’t know what that is.

I built the site on Hostinger in July. I originally installed EventPrime as my calendar plugin, and it worked great until it didn’t work at all. Suddenly about half the users could no longer purchase tickets. That was fun.

I deactivated and deleted EventPrime, and have tried to remove every trace of it from the system using WP-Optimize. Then I installed The Events Calendar. Because of this “The page you are looking for does not exist” error, I have uninstalled and reinstalled TEC at least 6 times, to no avail.

There is currently one event, one venue, one category, and one subcategory set up in the plugin.

Per your advice, I added a Debugging plugin and the only result is that it doesn’t find the wp_tec_occurrences table. The theme and all plugins except The Events Calendar and WP Debugging are deactivated.

    Hi @geh39,

    Please try the following:

    • Backup the database, just in case.
    • In the wp_options table look for the option names starting with tec_ct1_, specifically
    • tec_ct1_migration_state
    • tec_ct1_occurrences_field_schema_version
    • tec_ct1_events_field_schema_version
    • tec_ct1_occurrences_table_schema_version
    • tec_ct1_events_table_schema_version
    • tec_ct1_series_relationship_table_schema_version (this might only come with ECP so you might not find it)
    • Delete these options
    • Disable TEC
    • Enable TEC
    • Go to Events > Settings
    • Look for the Upgrade tab and run the migration. (Screenshot)

The migration should be fast because there are only a few or no events.
This process should create the missing tables.

Let us know if this helps solve the issue.

    Cheers,
    Andras

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Andras! You saved me. Well, my site, anyway. Just one thing, the Update tab seems to be stuck on “Loading…”, but my event shows up in the listing, and on the single event page. Thank you!

Do I need to worry about the “Loading…” thing?

Oops. I just checked the database. It eventually created the options I deleted, but when I look at the table list in phpMyAdmin, there are no wp_tec_ tables. I updated the event, venue, and categories, still no tables. I created a new event, no table, no options. I’m perplexed that I can see the original event now, but I still don’t have these tables. And the Upgrade tab still shows “Loading…”. I’m concerned that this may cause future problems.

    Hi @geh39

Hmmm… that’s weird. It shouldn’t be stuck on Loading, it should progress and either tell you to upgrade the data or that you don’t have to do anything. And it definitely should create the tables.

If you are still in the setup phase and don’t have any events, then try rerunning the above process, and also include deleting the tribe_events_calendar_options entry from the wp_options table. This will remove the main calendar settings, and when you activate TEC it will take it as a brand-new installation and should create the custom tables. Also, data migration will not be necessary, and the upgrade option should not show up on the settings page.

    A.
