I am displaying a list of events on my homepage using the [events_list] shortcode. I would like to have it display only the current and upcoming month, but the scope and limit attributes have no effect. They are overridden by the Default Event List options on the Pages tab of the settings. Should it not be the other way around that the local instance (in this case, the shortcode on my homepage) override the default setting?

  • Yes, it should work like that. Can you post the shortcode you’re using? A link to the site might help too.

i think there is an issue especially with the event list

My site is https://www.csiphila.org/. At the moment, my shortcode is [events_list scope=”month”]. I think that means I shouldn’t be seeing anything because the two events that are showing are both next month. However, I have my default Event List Limits set at “2”, which is giving me the display I want for this month.

I found the problem. I had been on the Visual tab rather than the Text tab in the WP editor. It turns out that WP had inserted some <code> tags inside my shortcode. They obviously broke it.
