Events Manager – Categories Dropdown

By default the first field of the categories dropdown in the add event form displays the first named category – is it possible to:

1) Set a default blank value for the dropdown. Something like “- Select Location -”
2) Make this field required, i.e. form won’t submit if user does not change the default value above.
