Events in posts categories and showing in news blocks

Hi,

Is there any way to make possible to show events like posts on homepage, I am using Newspaper theme, and theme has good blocks for showing news. Is possible to show events like news, because it will be good to show events in theme blocks. I tried to enable blog loop, but that is not what I am searching for.
I found on forum how to add category from WP posts to events, and now I can see categories when I want to add new event, but in blocks of theme I can not see that events.
