When attempting to change the following 2 settings (see below) to “1 month” in the admin panel (Events > General) of Events Calendar, I receive a time-out error and it does not save my changes. I have attempted to increase the length of time for time-outs, however, the time-out issue still occurs and I am unable to save my changes.

    – Move to trash events older than: 1 month
    – Permanently delete events older than: 1 month

Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, do you know if this is a known issue with the latest version of the Events Calendar plugin? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi there,

I am sorry you are having this issue, its possible that you might be moving so many events to the trash by doing this, it is timing your site out. I would go into your Events page, delete all of the events you want to, and then try to change this back. That way there is not a backlog of events this wants to delete, and then it should delete them from that point on.

Please let me know if that helps!

Thank you @tdorn for the suggestion. I attempted deleting all but a few older posts and tried this again, but continue to get the timeout issue when attempting to change these 2 settings:

    – Move to trash events older than: 1 month
    – Permanently delete events older than: 1 month

I also attempted changing them one at a time to see if it would let me save at least one of the settings, but I’m still receiving the timeout notice.

If you have any more recommendations, I greatly appreciate the support. Thanks again!

    Hi there,

Thank you for letting me know, I am sorry that did not solve this for you, as a next step, the best thing to do would be to test for conflicts: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/testing-for-conflicts/ You can either use the Health Check plugin mentioned in that guide, or you can set up a staging environment and copy your site to it to test.

Also please make sure that all of our plugins are up to date, and also that your are using the Updated Calendar Views: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/enabling-updated-calendar-views/

I think its possible there is some kind of conflict going on within your site, but testing is the best way to find out!

Thank you again for these recommendations @tdorn, I do routinely update all our plugins on a monthly basis, so I think we are covered from that vantage point.

I will try these additional steps and report back as to if this alleviated the issues.

Thank you again for your continual help and support. It truly means a lot.

We utilized the health checker mentioned and that doesn’t show anything is wrong with the site / plugin either. I took a look at the logs, and also even modified the timeout settings in the base image on stage to be like 5 minutes. It still fails around 30 seconds. Still unsure what might be causing these timeouts to occur?
