Hello, I’m looking for some advice on how to correct a problem with our events calendar. It has been working OK for a couple of years, but now it will not display future months when viewing the monthly calendar. I have ensured our plugins are up to date, and I have de-activated and re-activated the events calendar plugin. When I attempt to look at a future month, I get an error that reads, “Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 400 (bad request)”. Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi @adjamesmd7, sorry to hear about this. I am curious about this. However, I wasn’t able to check the URL you provided, as the domain doesn’t exist. Could you double-check and provide me with the correct one?

    Hello Abz,

    The website is: https://www.mishkandaviyd.com

There was a typo in the original post.

Thank you for your response. I have been unable to figure this one out. Everything else on our site appears to be working normally except the events calendar. Any ideas you might have are greatly appreciated!

    Hi @adjamesmd7

    Thanks for your message.

There could be a plugin/theme conflict on your end. Could you try running a conflict test??I suggest conducting these tests on a Staging Server.

If you have a caching plugin or server-side caching, please disable them for now and check if that makes a difference.

If that doesn’t help, could you provide the version of the following? This will help me understand how your system is set up.

    • PHP
    • WordPress
    • The Events Calendar
    • Theme

Let me know how it goes.

    Darian,
    Thank you for your reply.
I created a staging site, switched to Twenty Twenty theme, deactivated all plugins except WP Staging and The Events Calendar, cleared my cache, and tried to open the events calendar on the staging site.
The Calendar page displays a message that reads:
“The calendar block is hidden because there are no published posts.”
I have 235 published events, so I don’t know why I get that message. I created a new test event for today, and still get the same message.
If I go to the Events tab in the admin bar and select view calendar, it opens January 2023 and displays the month with events, including the new test event, but it will not display future months.
We do not have a caching plugin. I am not aware of any server-side caching.

    Versions:
I don’t know how to determine the version of PHP.
    WordPress version 6.1.1
    The Events Calendar version 6.0.6.2
    Theme is Allium version 1.0.4

Any advice or suggestion you have are greatly appreciated!

    Thank you for your time.

Hi @adjamesmd7, thanks for sharing more information here with @d0153. That’s definitely weird. Could you try flushing permalinks and see if that makes a difference? A common fix is to flush your permalinks by going to Settings → Permalinks and simply clicking the Save Changes button.

Also, I wasn’t able to load the URL you provided here → https://www.mishkandavyid.com/. Could you provide me with the correct URL? I would also like to check your website if I can see something unexpected there.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello @abzlevelup, thank you for your suggestions. There was a typo in the URL in my original post, the correct URL is:

    https://www.mishkandaviyd.com/

I tried flushing the permalinks as you suggested, and I still get the same 400 Bad Request error. I also get the same error when I try to change views from the month view to the day or list view.
I tried deleting all events (on our staging site) and starting over, creating new events, and that doesn’t seem to work either. When I’m working on the staging site, I get a 404 error instead of the 400 error I get on our active site. I also tried deactivating and deleting the events calendar plugin and then reinstalling and reactivating it (on our staging site). I still get the same 404 error.
Any suggestions you have are appreciated.

    Hi @adjamesmd7

On your staging site, please enable debugging and check the log file. There could be a piece of helpful information from there.

Moreover, have you tried reaching out to your hosting provider about this issue? It seems there’s something blocking the API requests for The Events Calendar.

    See- https://share.getcloudapp.com/6quNJ77w

May I also know what is your hosting provider?

    Hi @adjamesmd7

We haven’t heard from you in a while. Were you able to resolve the issue?

    Darian,

Thank you for the prompt. I was away on business for a week and then I was a week behind when I got back. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, that was rude of me and I appreciate your patience.

I enabled debugging as you recommended, and it did not show up anything. I deleted all the events that I had, and deactivated and deleted the plugin. I tried some other plugins, and one of them worked, but I was not happy with the look. I put in a service ticket with our hosing provider, and they were unable to identify any problems on their end. In the end, after some discussion we decided to forgo the calendar, and we have deleted it from our site. After some time had passed, I reloaded the plugin and created a couple of test events, and I was still unable to display future months and got the same 400 error. This has been a learning experience for me, I am grateful for your advice and guidance. Even though I could not solve this problem, I learned a lot, and have been using the staging site for other changes I am trying to make.
For now, we are moving forward without a calendar. I may try again down the road and see if maybe future updates will take care of this problem. It actually saves me some work not having the calendar to update, so that’s the positive I’m going to take from this.

Thank you very much for your help!

Thanks for your message. We’re sorry our plugin doesn’t meet your expectations.

I’m just curious, may I ask what is your hosting provider? I’d like to check if there are any related tickets on this particular issue.

    Hello Darian,

Your plugin has been great until something else made it stop working for us. I didn’t set up our site, so I’m not sure who our hosting provider is.
