I’m having a bit of trouble with the Event Calendar plugin conflicting with the Divi Header Menu and wondered if anyone could give me some advice?

If you scroll over the menu items you can see how the dropdown menu is not rendering properly.

I wasn’t sure if that was an easy fix in the Divi Theme Builder or not for the Events Archive page?

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Aaron Hill

Hello @aaronthrash, thanks for reaching out to us. Sorry to hear that you’re having this issue.

Could you try enabling and disabling options in DIVI Performance tab, and see if that makes a difference, then clear caching? I suspect that assets are not loaded properly.

Please let me know how it goes. Have a great day, Aaron.

    Best,
    Abz

    Hello Abz,

Thank you for your reply! I appreciate you reaching out and offering help.

I tried what you mentioned, disabled each option individually and then saving and then clearing the cache, and refreshing the page for each option, but that didn’t help anything. The menu will simply not render the drop down as it should.

I have no other problems on any archive page, and I have created custom post types in the functions.php and they are not affected. So, this must be somewhere in the Events Calendar plugin that is interfering with the Divi header menu dropdown.

Does anyone else have any ideas they’d like to offer? I’m all ears!

Thanks again Abz, I wish it could have been that simple.

Hi @aaronthrash, no worries. Let me help you further. I could see now that the header was in place, and I appreciate you trying it out. I could also see that this might be a compatibility issue with the Javascript not queued properly. You’ll want the Enqueue jQuery Compatibility Script under the Divi Performance tab to be disabled.

Could you follow this article with the heading Fixing compatibility Issue: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/divi-theme/.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Best,
    Abz

    Hi Abz,

No, that didn’t help either. It actually made it slightly worse and ruined the formatting. So, I re-enabled it and it fixed the formatting, but the dropdown functionality is still not working properly.

I viewed the page link you suggested and even downloaded the compatibility plugin and installed it, but still a no-go. Nothing is solving the issue with the header menu on the Events Calendar Archive page. The header menu is styled in the Divi Theme Builder and shows up just fine on all the other pages and even the other three archive post pages, but not the Events Calendar page for some reason.

Any other help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Aaron

    Hi @aaronthrash,

I can’t seem to access your website URL that you have provided above.

Could you try switching Events Template under Events > Settings > General tab and see if any difference?

Have you tried contacting a Divi support team?

    Best regards,
    Marta

    Hello,

Thank you for your help, but I ended up having to hire a programmer to write some PHP and add it to the functions page of my Child Theme.

@iammarta To answer your question, yes I contacted Divi support and they informed me that they couldn’t help. I also spoke with a former employee of Elegant Themes who said that there is a similar problem with bbPress. So, there may be other conflicts down the road, I can’t be certain.

I will mark this as resolved.

    Thank you,
    Aaron
