I have upgraded my Events Calendar to version 6.09 no problem.
I’m advised that I then need to upgrade the database.
There was then an automated preview that reported and error with every event (50) with no real reason apart from “Migration was cancelled. Please try again”.

I doubled checked my version and I noticed 6.10 is now available so I installed that. Now the automated preview no longer runs and I’m presented with a green message that says…
“Your system doesn’t allow us to run a preview, but you can still try a migration. During migration,?you will not be able to create, edit, or manage your events.?Your calendar will still be visible on your site”

As my site still has all the features I actually need I’m reluctant to break it completely if the data upgrade all goes horribly wrong. I have done a backup but restoring my entire site doesn’t sound like a lot of fun either.

Any ideas why every event in my calendar seems to fail the upgrade and what will likely happen if I forge ahead anyway?
    Thanks in advance
    David

    Hi @pollardd

Thanks for reaching out. Let me help you with this one.

Usually, if you have a site database that does not support?transactions?(e.g. MyISAM), you will not be able to run a migration preview. You can still migrate events, but we won’t be able to provide a time estimate.?Read more.

If you’re not comfortable migrating your events to your live site, you could create a?staging version of your live site?and try migrating your events from there first. In addition, if you haven’t checked our?tips for a smooth migration?yet, please try them out and check if that helps.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi Darian,
It appears that I’m using MySQL database. I have never had to fiddle with this which is a bonus ??
If I’m reading the second link provided in your post above Transactions in MySQL may be disabled. I’ll give the staging site approach a go and see what happens.

Hi @pollardd, no worries. Please let us know how it goes, and keep us posted. Also, to be safe, we’d recommend conducting tests and updates on a Staging Server. Lastly, please keep a working backup of your website.
