Trying to use the Event Calendar and eventbrite importer to load out eventbrite events. Every time I load the The Event Calendar plug, my website crashes due to a fatal memory allocation issue.

    Thanks,

    Josh

Hi Josh, Who are are you hosting with? Two things immediately come to mind. You may need to increase the amount of memory for your WordPress site or you could be hitting the memory limits if you are on a shared hosting plan.

    Hey friends,

I believe James is correct with his diagnosis. Thanks for pitching in here James!

Josh, can you let me know if your issue was resolved?

    Thanks,

I have GoDaddy as my hosting.

I upped the memory to 1024.

When I upload the plugin, my homepage crashes with the error “Fatal error: Allowed memory size 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 786432 bytes) in /home/charles99/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/includes/googlefonts.php on line 2410.

It seems to only affect my home page as all the other pages load correctly.

If I remove the plugin, the site loads fine, but as soon as I add the plugin, it crashes.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Josh,

It certainly seems as if you are maxing out on memory. Even after adjusting the memory for your WordPress site I suspect that GoDaddy is limited the amount of memory that your site is using.

    A few recommendations –

    Short Term
Review the plugins that you have installed. If there are plugins that you are not using, or could do with out, I’d deactivate and completely remove them. Less is more.

    Long Term
Consider moving away from shared hosting and looking into a VPS where you can have more oversight of the resources that you’re using.

I’m not sure what the rules so I’ll refrain from suggesting specific services but if you would like some advice please feel free to message me directly.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks James,

I don’t know what the issue is. When I look at my resource monitor when the plugin is activated, it shows I’m only using a 1/4th to 1/2 of my resources.

If it was a memory issue, wouldn’t it affect the entire site and not just the home page?

    Hi Josh,

When I look at the path below

    /home/charles99/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/includes/googlefonts.php

I’m lead to believe that the issue is the revslider taking up too much memory; specifically with the Google font’s. I’m assuming that the slider is only being used on the homepage which would explain why you are only seeing this issue on the homepage. If you deactivate the slider does the issue go away?

Without an actual Website to look at or any login information I can only speculate.

Also, how many others sites are running under that GoDaddy account?

If I deactivate the rev slider plugin, then the events calendar plugin will work. However, I’d like to be able to use both of these plugins and not quite understanding why its throwing the error like this. I’ve used both of these plugins on other websites before.

Hi Josh, without knowing anything other than what I’ve read above I think your best bet will be to look into a better hosting solution. Your other option is to find a developer and have them take an in depth look at your situtation.

    Hey guys,

Thank you for keeping the conversation going.

I have to agree with James on this one, it seems like more horse power is needed to meet that website’s specific needs.

You might also want to see if a caching plugin helps your cause.

    Best of luck!
