I am using the Event Calendar Newsletter (ECN) to pull events from EventPrime for use in our automatically generated newsletter. One version of that newsletter goes out weekly with 2 weeks worth of upcoming events. There are no qualifying events in the next two weeks, but the newsletter included 2 events for the end of October. There are other qualifying events between now and the end of October, so it is not just pulling the next two events. If I try the same basic ECN template, but with 3 weeks or one month of events, I get the results expected. It has something to do with there not being any qualified events (a subset of all possible event types) in the requested period. That is an unusual situation.

The issue can be seen in the newsletter linked to with this message. The “auditions” section is as expected. (There are several auditions in this 2 week period.) But down further, the events section should be empty, but has two events fro October. The only difference between the two ECN templates used are the event types selected for inclusion.

At ECN support’s request, I created a staging area for our website. I tested the ECN template in the staging area and had the same issue. I deactivated all plugins except EventPrime and ECN and changed the theme (from LlamaPress) to Twenty Twenty-Four. The issue still exists.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for reaching out and providing detailed information about the issue you’re experiencing.

Since we don’t have access to the Pro version of ECN, we’re unfortunately unable to replicate the behavior on our end. However, we’re here to support you as much as possible! If there’s anything specific you need assistance with regarding EventPrime, please let us know, and we’ll do our best to help.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

ECN support (Brian – info at eventcalendarnewsletter dot com) says he is just passing the data request to EventPrime and formatting and passing on the results to the Newsletter plugin (where the shortcode is embedded). Brian would have to tell you what call he is using and what parameters he is passing. Brian’s support has always been great and I’m sure he will help in any way he can.

    Hi @eventprimesupport!

We’re using the code previously provided here, so it’s not clear how the get_events_post_data would return events outside of the start and end date range when there’s no events between those dates. It’s not something we’re able to replicate.

    Thank you for reaching out.

We understand your concern regarding the get_events_post_data method and the retrieval of events outside the specified date range.

To ensure the code functions as expected, please double-check that the date range is being passed in the correct format. We’ve tested the code thoroughly, and it is working as intended. Make sure that the arguments are correctly formatted and passed as given in previous code.
