    Hi guys,

Quick question, is there a way to change the event type from “Synced” to what has been actually updated on the child sites?

Currently, all updates are being logged as “Synced” without any additional info on the plugin/theme.

Looked everywhere but can’t seem to find a way to change this.

  • Thank you for using our plugins @martingfixed

Would you please be able to share more details so we can better understand the context of this issue? Some screenshots to highlight the problem would certainly help.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I’m attaching 2 screenshots for comparison of the log on MainWP and a standard WP site.

    Hi again,

Can I have an update on this, please?

    Hello @martingfixed

    Sorry fore the late response.

The events highlighted in the two screenshots are not the same one. The events highlighted in the MainWP screenshot are events about the synching of data, so the event type will be Synced. The event type depends on the type of action being reported.

Can you please confirm if you have other events in the MainWP dashboard that have another event type?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks for the reply, Robert.

I’m attempting the same action – plugin update.

    – One of them was done from the WP site itself (which is recorded as the correct event type “Updated” + details of the actual plugin).
    – The other is updated from MainWP dashboard, which is recorded as “Synced” event type and no further info except ‘synced’.

Yes, there are various event types recorded, here’s a screenshot:

We just need the activity log to keep track of which MainWP user updated what plugin/theme.

    Hello @martingfixed

I an see that you have the correct event type reported for the events.

In the case of event ID 7703 the event type is “Synced” because that event is reporting the fact that the activity log between the child site and the MainWP dashboard have been synced.

If you are looking for an event about a plugin update on a child site, that will be reported using event ID 5004.

You can refer to the Objects & Event Types in the WordPress activity log for more information. And if you would like to know which event ID represents what, please refer to the list of Event IDs for the WordPress activity log.

I hope the above helps. Should you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Have a great week ahead.

    Hi Robert,

    Thanks for the IDs clarification.

However, this still doesn’t answer why when I update a plugin using MainWP, it is logged as “Synced” instead of “plugin update”?

My question is how can I see the log records of ALL the latest performed “Updates”, or for a specific site? When I search/filter the domain name, all the plugin update actions are logged as “Synced”.

From what I understand when I run a Plugin Update, the ID should be 5004, which isn’t the case and it is being logged as 7703 (Synced).

Let’s say you have run several plugin updates on a site, how can we see what and when exactly was updated if they’re logged as “Synced”?

Here’s another screenshot that should explain it:

    Thanks again!

@martingfixed thank you for the explanation. Can you please confirm what versions of the MainWP extension and WP Activity Log (on child site) are you running?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi again,

Could I please have an answer to my questions from 2 replies back?

    Thank you.

    Hello @martingfixed

During this time of the year the team is on the “end of year” holidays, so it will take some time to get an answer. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Have a good day.

    Hello @martingfixed

Thank you for your patience and waiting. Unfortunately we can’t reproduce the issue or better understand what is it / what is causing it.

To help us with this, we need the system information file, which you can download from the plugin’s Help page. Can you please send us that via email at [email protected] and reference this ticket in the email?

Please do not share such file on this forum since it contains technical details about your setup.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi

From which plugin exactly? I can’t find “Help” page anywhere, neither in the MainWP dashboard nor the Activity Log plugin itself.

Also, please let me know if there’s anything that is still not clear about the issue. I believe my explanation and screenshots above should describe it well.

    Thanks,
    Martin G.

    Hello @martingfixed

Please send us the System Information file from the WP Activity Log plugin installed on the child site, on which you are updating the plugin but there is no event of such change in the MainWP dashboard.

You can download the System Information file from the System Info tab in the Help & Contact Us page in the plugin menu.

Please make a reference to this forum thread in your support email.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
