Event Schedule on Team pages?

Is there a way to list a team’s schedule on their team page? This is a pretty standard feature for sports leagues. I would want to display the team’s schedule on their team page (just the games that team is involved in). I can see how to use the shortcodes to add an event list, but there doesn’t seem to be a parameter to filter the list to only events involving a certain team.
Rather than having to add a shortcode to each team page, I would like to suggest that this should be an optional part of the team page template. Maybe a checkbox that allows you to display the team schedule on their team page. Or better yet, a global setting to display the team schedule on the team pages.
