The Divi template from Elegant Themes has had quite some updates the last year. The builder within, which is the core, maybe the most. I found that if you use, what is called the new builder experience, which is set to be used automatically after updating. That you can’t add events using the builder.
Temporary solution is to revert to the old builder by going into the theme options> builder>advanced> Disable The Latest Divi Builder Experience

It would be really nice if the events could be working with the latest versions of the builder, called the new experience.

    Hi,

At the moment the Divi issues are already been reported and the Devs are looking into it.

Any idea when this will be resolved?

Not sure whether this helps or if it is the same problem, but I have encountered what might be a similar problem.

When attempting to load an Events Manager event page, all I get is some lines of plain text showing the usual Divi page builder components – section, row etc. Can’t edit anything.

Disabling Yoast SEO plugin resolves the immediate issue, but obviously not the problem.

    Hello,

Currently, We don’t have any update on when it will be fixed with the “New Divi Builder” as it would require both parties to look in to.

I would suggest that you report this to Divi Developers also.
