  • Hiya,

Are these the normal category listing pages produced by EM by default?

If so, you can adjust the formatting of those pages quite easily by going to Events > Settings > Formatting

    Cheers,

They are and i’ve looked but in “Settings > Formatting” but for some reason the page format is not correct (https://spikypenguin.com/spw/?event-categories=music). The right side bars are not showing and the footer is displaying incorrectly. Trying to make it look like this (https://spikypenguin.com/spw/?cat=61).
Thank you again for the help,
    Alistair

This looks more like a issue with your WordPress theme.

If you go to Events > Settings > Pages > Event Categories you’ll see the page that’s being used to display your category pages under Categories page.

If you then open that page up in the normal WordPress post / page editor, you’ll be able to see which template it’s using. You can then use that info to make sure there are sidebars set to display on that page under Appearance > Widgets.

Hi, thank you for the info however i will not be using the “Category”, just the sub pages.
For some reason only the one below is displaying correctly (header, footer, sides)
    https://spikypenguin.com/spw/?event-categories=exhibitions

the others below are not displaying properly yet they are the same format … :s
    https://spikypenguin.com/spw/?event-categories=art-and-culture
    https://spikypenguin.com/spw/?event-categories=music

    I dont understand why :s

Just to make sure I understand: main categories display fine but subcategories don’t?

Hi. No, 1 category works out of 3. There is no sub categories, just 3 main categories.

Puzzling. The only difference I can see between the three is that the first one only has one event in it, but the two that don’t display properly have more than one event in them.

I’m wondering if you added an event to the first category whether it would break the layout like the other two categories.

I think there’s a problem in your template that only shows itself when the WordPress Loop runs more than once.

You are correct. I have added some events in the first category and the page messes up like the others. What can be done about this?

I think the problem is your images are too big and pushing sidebars down. The ones that look right don’t have such big images.

To get the category pages to look like the other normal category page, you’d probably want to use your default theme template to show categories, whcih you can do by setting Events > Settings > Pages > Categories > override with formats? to no.

That is great thank you, it worked! The footer is displaying properly now.
Sorry to be pushy but is there a way to change the format of the page to look like this:
    https://spikypenguin.com/spw/category/directory/

It is currently set to the “Default” template i think but not know where to change it to “Right Sidebar” template.

Thank you again for all the help

You’d need to look at either your theme documentation or the theme files themselves to see which templates use the right sidebar.

Then you’d need to set a page using the template under Events > Settings > Pages > Event List/Archives (Events page).

Hi there! For some reason i am having a problem with category display pages also – i can’t seem to find where to edit this format – when i edit the formatting for category pages, it does nothing and i have no idea where it’s pulling the styling from! Please help – https://mantakchia.com/events/categories/mantak-chia-asian-tours/ this is page in question.

have you tried Events > Settings > Formatting > Event Categories > Event List Formats ? also, maybe you can post this on a new thread to avoid confusions.
