• The Event List Date Filter is using the Published Date, it needs to use the START DATE. I have 3 years worth of events and if I need to find what’s going on in April of 2020, I should be able to use the filter to show me just those. As it is, that filter is useless!

You mean the filter for columns Start Date and End Date in dashboard? I’m pretty certain it does not list events on publishing date, because that date is deactivated there. On my own site the filter on both dates works fine as well. If you’re using a plugin that hooks into the post/page order, it might be a conflict with that.

Oh, I now understand what you mean. When opening the events page in dashboard there’s a default listing. Think it’s publishing date, similar to posts/pages I guess. But that’s why I’ve made the Start Date and End Date column sortable.

    Guido,

I understand that there is the ability to Sort the columns, what is needed is the ability to FILTER the list.

The ability to show only a specific YEAR or MONTH – or even a CATEGORY would make managing large list easier. For example, one of my clients has over 300 events listed. Trying to find a group of events to make changes is a huge main in the…

    Hi,

Adding category column is something I can easily add in an upcoming update.
Until then you can try to add this column your self, by using the Admin Columns plugin.

Adding filter for year or month can be a lot of work, have to look into this.

Don’t need a Category Column, we need to filter large lists to make them more manageable.

The Very Simple Event Plugin is exactly what I need for my sites.
However, when viewing a single event page, the ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ links lead to other pages according to publish date, instead of start or end date.
In this use, the published date is of no use to me.
How can I change the Previous and Next links to follow the start or end dates?
I understand ‘start date’ my not work, but ‘end date’ might, based on my reading.

    Example of the previous/next problem:

    Click on any single event.
At the bottom of the event page, I expect the Previous and Next links to go to the chronological events based on start (or end) date.

    Hi Brian,

No this is not related to the other request, but nevermind.

The single post nav is part of your theme (file single), my plugin has no effect on it.
I can try to make a fix for you, meanwhile you can hide the nav with this custom CSS:

    .single-event .nav-links {display:none;}

    Will keep you informed.

    Hi Brian,

It turns out not to be very simple to change the native single post navigation, so I suggest to use the CSS fix to hide the nav at the single event page.

Thank you for your help. I simply changed the publish dates of each post to get them into the order I wanted them to be in, and will modify that as I post along the way. It’s working just fine, just a little clunky. And I have to remember to do it.
