Event directory theme & plugin – browsing & subs.

Hello one and all,
Im looking for a theme or plugin/s that creates an event directory…that can be:
– Browsed by province, town and type of event, with results sorted by date and variety of tags.
– Directory can be added to by users (subject to mod approval)
– Free and paid for subscriptions for update notifications.
– Users can select to have update notifications for each of the listings.
– These notifications are via email, SMS and IM.

Ive perused the plugin directory and theme searched in Google, found a few plugins that kinda fit some of the bill and think I could figure it out, but was surprised to see there wasn’t a straightforward plugin for something like events listings.

The notifications via IM also seem problematic, and no direct answer for the notifications being free AND paid for.
