event date in permalink?

Hi

is there a way to get the page URL to display the events year or season, and possibly month/day in before the auto-generated name? something like https://localhost/events/%year%/bluebirds-vs-eagles/ with the year being 2019 as an example.

I’ve tried to add events/%year% to the event permalink option but this doesn’t work. /%postname%/ works but that’s useless.
