Event creation – calendar date picker

Hello! I’m having some trouble with creating events. When I click in the “Date” box, the calendar pops up, but when I select the date, it spells out the entire name of the month, i.e. October 22, 2016. This would be OK, but then when I submit the event, I get an error that the date must be 10 characters or less. I’ve tried it in IE, Chrome and Firefox, with the same results.

I can manually type in the date in MM/DD/YYYY, of course, but my other users are having trouble with it.
