    I have a problem when I add categories. The categories appear fine in the back end listing of categories and I can assign events to them in the user post form and in the backend.

    BUT under Settings>Viewing events, the new categories are absent in the “pre-selected calendar filters” box and do not appear on the front end listings in the dropdown.

    Sorry my error, please ignore.

    Because events were pending, there were “none” in the missing categories. Works fine when the events are published.
