Event Booking with old Safari

I have had a report that the latest (well a version released in the last year) of Event Manager is not handled correctly on an old iPad. In particular despite clicking a number on a ticket option the message “Please click at least one space to proceed with your booking” is still displayed.

Is this a known problem or maybe an ipad setting needed?
