EU VAT Number compatibility

  • Hi,

    I recently bought the Woocommerce “EU VAT Number” plugin.
    But I’d like to move to your “EU VAT Assitant” plugin, as it seems more complete (notably regarding per-country reports)

    Are those 2 plugins compatible somehow?
    Will my previous orders keep their vat fields If I desactivate the “EU VAT Number plugin” and activate “EU VAT Assitant” instead?

    I’ve seen that there is some (old) code of the “EU VAT Number” plugin in your git repo (https://github.com/aelia-co/woocommerce-eu-vat-number) so I guess that these 2 plugins are related somehow?

    Hi Charles,
    The EU VAT Assistant is not related, nor connected to the EU VAT Number plugin. Our plugin doesn’t contain any code, or logic from the latter. Due to that, if you change from the EU VAT Number to the EU VAT Assistant, most likely you will have to find a way to migrate any data to the EU VAT Assistant. Unfortunately, since we haven’t done that before, we wouldn’t be able to say what this entails.

    The repository you found is most likely a “leftover”. I will ask to check it and delete if it’s no longer needed. Thanks for letting us know about it.

    Hi Diego, thanks for the fast reply.
    yes, I’m sad I didn’t find your plugin before, I wouldn’t installed and set up “EU VAT Number” if I had knew about it.
    Fortunately I just installed it last month, so I won’t lost much clients/orders data in the move.
    You can mark this thread as solved, but please let it open until January, so that if I find some difficulty/easiness/tricks during the transfer I’ll post it here, as that might help some future users of “EU VAT Assistant”.

    Please also note that the EU VAT Assistant comes with two support tiers. As indicated on the plugin page, the free one is offered through this forum, and it’s limited to basic questions. Advanced support is available via our dedicated support portal, which is reserved to customers who purchased one of our support plans. The latter can be handy if you need help with complex queries, which might require an in-depth investigation.
