• I am trying -just for fun- to explore how WordPress is working and how I can use it.

I have on my win2000pro PC installed an extra harddisk (E:) where I have installed “Apache 1.3.27”, “php 4,1,10”, “mysql-essential-4.1.10a-win32”, and “MyAdmin-2.2.7-pl1” and now I am trying to install WordPress on the harddisk as well, but now I get this error message: “… or we can’t contact the database server at localhost”.

    WordPress is installed on E:\Apache\htdocs\wordpress
    the database on E:\MySQL\data\wordpress

Since there is no access from the outside world to my little system username and password is open for “everyone”

Reading some of the topics here it mya by that I am a 1% user and have to define “localhost” or…

looig foreward to read your answers, thank you

I have now solved the problem.

Part of the problem was not related to WordPress, but was because of inexperience about using MySQL.

another part of the problem seems to be related to WordPress since the system cannot handle MySQL 4.1 and up.

    But now it is operating.

I will return with other problems when they pop up.
