    Hello,

I recently downloaded the MiniPost plugin.

I received these errors when I activated it.

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/crowspea/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mini-posts.php:1) in /home/crowspea/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 10

    I’m running WP 1.5.1.2.

Does anyone know if this plugin is still being supported/developed or what these errors mean?

I’m bumping this up. It’s been 12 hours and no response. Anyone have an idea?

Many ideas. The first one: put the first 5 words of that error message in the little magic box in the top right corner, where it says search first and you won’t have to wait 12 hours ??

    Thanks, Moshu.

I’d already done that. Since there was no whitespace in the plugin and it’s reporting that the error in in the admin.php file, I was hoping that someone would have seen this error specifically with this plugin.

    Guess not. 8-(

Get 1.5.1.3 and see if the problem persists.

    Schulte,

    Did it.

No dice, as Charles Bronson would say. It doesn’t look like the developer has worked on this for about 7 months or so. I wonder if there’s something that changed in the core of the WP admin pages that’s causing it spew now.

You’d think, but that was the very first thing I checked. Nothing before the ‘<?php’ and nothing after the final ‘?>’ so I don’t know what it is.

Okay, figured out what the deal was.

My text editor (BBEdit) was set to output the file with UNIX linebreaks (okay so far) as UTF-8.

For some reason, that was munging it up.

Okay, just about giving up now. I got the plugin to load, but now, when I use the manager to try to update the post, I get:
    —-
‘Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/crowspea/public_html/wp-admin/admin-header.php:8) in /home/crowspea/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mini-posts.php on line 63’

    —-
If I uncheck the mini-post checkbox for the article (it is the only article) I get this:
    —-
‘Warning: in_array(): Wrong datatype for second argument in /home/crowspea/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mini-posts.php on line 60

It’s too bad that I can’t get it to work. I haven’t touched the core files at all, and it would be great to have an asides plugin that didn’t require a huage about on hacking in the template files.

    Jonimueller,

thanks for the pointer, but it’s not for me. I liked the way mini-posts left everything in the wp database without setting up a whole new table.

So, and thanks to everyone who posted, I set up a custom field and changed the logic in the index page. Now I check for a value in the custom field, and display the post as an aside. It’s like Matt’s asides, but I used a custom field instead of a new category. Not much difference.
