• I tried editing one page and i am now getting errors that i did not have before:
Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/archive/archive.php on line 377

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/archive/archive.php:377) in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-admin/post.php on line 233

  • Hello,
try deactivating your plugins one by one first, and see if it solves it.
Seems like you have a plugin called “archive” installed which may be the cause for the issue.

Thank you. Deactivating solved one problem – i deactivated it and no longer get those errors but on my new page that i am trying to make, i am now getting a 404 error

    https://www.missingpatriot.com/news/

I am trying to set up the oldschool style wordpress from years ago that had the blog post on the left side with the a small calendar on the right with the archives below. I have not used this in years and i am struggling to set up the simple WordPress blog site on this URL

the 404 error is still there but I think it is a simple edit to include a test blog post

Try first to refresh your permalinks, to see if it solves the 404 error.
To do this, just go in Settings menu -> Permalinks, and click save changes. (you should have “post name” checked).

Then try to create your page, and see if it does it.

…struggling to set up the simple WordPress blog site on this URL

you mean your Blog-TEST page? What exactly do you want to achieve? If you want your new posts to show in this page instead of your home page, you need to set this behaviour in the reading settings

Anyway, in the Codex pages there is a lot of documentation about setting up and configuring a site.

Hope these links may be of help

    Thank you again.
The page that has the error is here:

    /news/

    The 404 error is below.

I followed the instructions regarding the permalinks and it did not fix the problem. I want a simple blog page with the calendar, archives, categories, etc. as this page currently shows. but the left side (blog posts) is showing the 404 error.

I do not want blog posts on the home page, I would like the blog posts to show on the “NEWS” page. In reading settings, set the HOME page to be static and Posts page: “news” selected from the drop down. I refreshed the news page and still getting the 404 error. I created a post and the 404 error is gone. I didn’t realize I needed to post in order to fix the problem. I apologize, i will read the “CODEX PAGES” and see if I can understand other problems if they come up.
