Tons of these errors are appearing in my dashboard — not on my pages:

Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home/directory/domain/wordpress/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 1108

I’m getting this error showing up in my Dashboard, but not on the posts. It shows up in the incoming links and WordPress blog area of dashboard:

Also, should be noted that when I try to install JetPack (connect to www.remarpro.com) i get an error too:

    xml_rpc-32700
Jetpack server could not communicate with your site’s XML-RPC URL:

    https://skitch.com/worldrider/8chqk/jetpack-clearcloud-digital-wordpress

Note that this is a new install of WP 3.1.1 and into a new directory.

Strange. But I somehow think related. Using PHP 5.3x fast cgi i think.

Can you provide a link to your site? That helps sometimes.

Also, it may not have anything to do with your problem at all, but recently I had JetPack issues too. The solution for me was to disable W3TC and JetPack was able to reconnect.

    Hi Jan –

Yeah. I turned everything off, and even reinstalled WP 3.1.1 from scratch (well, auto install through DH) and still same errors.

The site isn’t visible to search engines as it’s in staging and development, so I wonder if that might affect it?

Here’s a link to check it out:

AFAIK that wouldn’t effect your install speaking with JetPack’s servers.

Just for completeness sake, try the usual steps (which you may have done so already)

    – Switch to Twenty Eleven

    – Disable all plugins except JetPack

    – Try reproducing the error

If that doesn’t work, review the JetPack support page (which I just now recalled) and try contacting them via the bottom link.

    Some other things to check:

    – Are you using PHP 4 or 5? PHP 5 would be best.
    – Are you using W3 Total Cache? If so, that may be causing problems.

It’s wacky, I’m pinging Jetpack support.

    Running php 5 fast cgi
no W3 or other cache at this point!
