• Ran updates for this plugin on a few websites. 3 of 7 failed with the following error:

    “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘print’ (T_PRINT), expecting identifier (T_STRING) in public_html/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/admin/includes/welcome-panel.php
    on line 9

    I feel I should point out 2 of those sites were using PHP 5.6 and 1 of them was using 7.2

    As such, anyone else having this issue…
    I suspect the solution is simply “update PHP to 7.4”

    However, just thought I would put this on your radar

    “public function print() { ”

    Line #9 of contact-form-7/admin/includes/welcome-panel.php

    does NOT error out on PHP 7.4
