• Can someone tell me if this would be from being slashdotted?:

Warning: main(./wp-blog-header.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/tunertri/www/www/blog/index.php on line 1

Warning: main(./wp-blog-header.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/tunertri/www/www/blog/index.php on line 1

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required ‘./wp-blog-header.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/tunertri/www/www/blog/index.php on line 1

  • That has nothing to do with slashdot, and more to do with the fact that wp cannot find wp-blog-header.php in the place it is being told to look.

It is expecting the file to be in the same directory as index.php

hummmm…. Thanks podz, I just looked in the control panel of the site, and it seems ALL permissions have be set to dr——– or -r——— . Could this be the prob? Perhaps the company changed it after all the /. traffic? I looked in the stats and its just bananas how many people visited!

Well if a company are screwing with your site without telling you, move.

Change it all back to 644 / 664, and folders to 755

That seems to be working…thanks podz.

I dint get an email, perhaps my buddy did, but really, would you suggest changing companys? I really think they just did it because of the /. crazyness. But I really would like your opinion. You can take it offline if it is not pertinant to this forum?

As it’s hosting, I’d say it’s pertinent and I have unusual opinions which others may wish to temper:
Many hosts offer what are IMO sillier and sillier hosting packages where you get space (say 400meg) and bandwidth (say 4gig). Now that’s all great when you sign on the line, but if they are basing their hosting on dodgy maths/demand, then they actually are unable to meet demand – it’s very much based on probability of predicted demand. Not great when they SAY you have something, but they then switch you off when THEIR infrastructure falls over.
As an example, my domain, which includes a subdomain, uses a total disk space of around 70meg, but my bandwidth is currently running at 7gig a month. What the hell would happen if I had 400meg of files ??

In your case, I would want to know precisely WHY they switched you off, when they were planning on telling you, how they did it, how the /. affected their network etc etc etc – they couldn’t possibly give me too much detail. You are the customer, and they failed to deliver did they not ?

(I am picky though – another voice of calm and serenity may be along soon ?? )
