• Hi there,

I’m a novice tring to install WordPress on my site, but the first time I tried was in the very early days of the latest release and all I got was an empty page once I’d uploaded wordpress to my homepage.

So, using filezilla, today I deleted all the WP files from my root directory and tried to reload it into a new /blog subdirectory.

When I came to run the install, I got a message saying wordpress was already installed. So, I tried to log in and got the error “Your database is out of date – please upgrade”.

When I click on the text which says “upgrade” I’m brought to a page with this message: “Not Found
The requested URL /wp-admin/upgrade.php was not found on this server.”

Do I have to go back and delete the wordpress MySQL database and re-create one before I can properly reinstall? Bear in mind it was a nightmare to set up this d/b, given that I’m clueless and painfully following the instructions :o) so if I could avoid having to delete and re-create, that would make my day!

Thanks for any help you can give.
