hi tuxlog, thank you for updating the plugin!
I have updated to the latest version, but still do not receive weather data, in the inspector tool in browser I see : No OpenMeteo data available.
I tried to set longitude and latitude manually, but after I click on “Save settings” and the window reloads, the values just disappear. Do you have an idea what could be the reason?
Connection test is successful. One note : I use wordpress multisite setup.
Thank you for the details. I will retest with multisite setup. Sounds as if the settings are not saved correctly. I will check this.

Just figured out that the issue only occurs in google chrome, I can save long and lat as expected in firefox.
Question : if I would like to use openweathermap, what is the minimum pricing plan that I need to subscribe to for API to work? I created a free API key, it does not seem sufficient, the API call result in “Invalid API key”. Should I subscribe to “One Call by Call” subscription plan? Is there any difference if I subscribe to an API key One Call API 3.0 or 2.5?
I will try entering Latitude and Longitude manually but in what format I need to enter it? (Latitude: 45° 21′ 59.99″ N Longitude: 14° 36′ 59.99″ E -doesn’t work).
@olsyrova : The free plan should work. If you have a new key, you have to use OpenWeatherMapv3 and it takes some hours until the key is active. Thank you for the hint about Chrome, I will try to find the problem with this.
@dararede : you have to enter just numbers like 50.11552 and 8.68417 for Frankfurt, Germany. You can find the OpenMeteo tool for this under https://open-meteo.com/en/docs/geocoding-api
Still same problem “No OpenMeteo data available.” and still no search function – see image attached.
I was on Accuwather and now default Weatherservice is OWM. I did change it manually to OpenMeteo.
I did update from v6, maybe that is the problem? now on 9.0.
@olsyrova : I just tested multisite setup again and it works without problems in chrome and firefox, with sitewide activation of wp-forecast and single side activation, all the coords are stored correctly. please check your chrome settings.
@dararede : did you try to deactivate and activate the plugin? this should update all the new settings between v6 and v9. do you have a security plugin active which permits other plugins from getting data from outside? seems to be something special.
Just updated WordPress to latest version and now it works. I really love this plugin and used it for few years now. Thanks for finding solution.
What do you think what are chances that this Open-Meteo will end their free support? I feel that today you have to pay for everything…
hi tuxlog, thank you for the quick reply!
since my OpenWeatherMapv3 key does not (yet?) work, I tried to use open-meteo again. Just wondering if open-meteo API also fetches night temperature? I used to display forecast for 3 days in a format “day / night temperature”. Now I am only getting day temperature and wondering if night temperatures are not returned by open-meteo and rather need to wait for OpenWeatherMapv3 activated.
Hi Tuxlog,
I have the Meteo version working now on one of our sites, although it appears to be displaying in Celsius only — can we get a Fahrenheit option?
Otherwise, I’m still struggling with another site that’s refusing to display any version. It throws a different error in the plugin connection test — something to do with missing SSL, which is not the case. The site has a valid SSL cert.
OpenWeatherMap seems like a great option but I couldn’t get it working when I tried with the API. I’ll try one more time and see if there’s anything I’m missing.
Thanks again for helping us with this. We love the plugin and don’t want to lose it.
cheers,
LiseLOL. Now the Meteo widget is displaying Fahrenheit (yay!) but the short description is “ice” which can’t be true since it’s only 62F (15C). Maybe it’ll settle down on its own…
cheers,
LWouldn’t it be better to place Open-Meteo as first option under Weatherservice dropdown as it switches Accuweather to OWM for default. I tried on few of my test sites and each time updating from v6 breaks widget because of that. I don’t have newer version (v7) to to test that as you are saying “All your Accuweather Widgets have been set to Open-Meteo to avoid errors on your website.” – it isn’t working for me.
@dararede : Great to hear it is working now. Well, the plugin, has a long history (about 15 years) and meanwhile there was support for WeatherBug, DarkSky,… they all got commercial or were sold and closed but there was always a replacement from another free weather data provider. So I am optimistic OpenMeteo will stay with us quite a while. I am sorry if the automatic conversion to OpenMeteo does not cover all the former versions. The important thing is that the conversion does not break your site and you can change it afterwards. I will think about putting OpenMeteo first. This is a good idea. Thank you.
@olsyrova : Yes, OpenMeteo has a lot more data than the plugin uses at the moment. Well, there was only little time to switch from accuweather to openmeteo at the moment. First of all I wanted to get it working again. I plan to enhace this in the future and add night data and some other data step by step.
@cirrus675 : good to hear Fahrenheit is working and you like the plugin ?? I am not sure about the SSL thing, wp-forecast just tries to fetch an URL with https using wp_get_remote. Do you have changed the transport parameter from default? Thanks for the hint with the wrong description “Ice”, I have to dig into that, can you give me the location wher you got this please. Maybe it is an old translation or something like that. Accuweather used codes for weatherconditions and those code are translated into text. This sounds as if there is an old code in the translation but I would like to verify it.
