• I’m having an issue where I’m unable to make any changes in the Settings>ShareThis.

I get the first screen, but it won’t allow me to pick any of the button styles and move to step #2.

I have tried it on several sites, even on a development server where I changed the theme and disabled all plugins with no change. I also went into a couple sites that have been running the plugin for a while and they are having the same problem.

I am seeing this Console error on all the sites tested.
    TypeError: stlib.util is undefined - https://w.sharethis.com/button/buttons.js
    and
    TypeError: stButtons is undefined /wp-content/plugins/share-this/libraries/stlib_preview.js

Is this a problem with the WordPress version? Or a possible error in the buttons.js file on your server?

    Thanks for any help.

  • I am having the same exact problem on a new website and sharethis plugin install

I also am seeing this error on a site both locally and on a production server. I’m also using WordPress 4.5.2, with no other plugins, and I’ve tried multiple browsers (Firefox v46, Chrome v50), all from a Mac running OSX 10.11.3.

It was working fine on the same site last week and I haven’t changed anything on the site. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I submitted a ticket on their support site. Waiting for response.
Meanwhile I’m looking into either using their script and coding it in my theme files.

Or maybe a lower overhead option to speed up the load time.

But neither would be a plugin.

Does anyone know of a way to add the sharethis html code and scripts to a wordpress site without the plugin? None of my attempts have worked. It seems to add numbers onto the URL address, such as:/#sthash.xTv0ulXB.dpbs. I have a site that is being held up by the plugin not working. The client does not want to go live without the sharethis options, so my hands are tied and they are getting impatient. I have not heard a response from the sharethis support for 4 days, Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

They do seem a little slow on their response on this issue. Not typical.
I ran into the same issue with needing to get a site done.

    1. If you go here and click the Website button it walks you through setup and gives you the code snippets you need. You will have to code them into your template files (scripts in the header.php and buttons in your page templates). I think that hash tag comes from the “Measure copy and shares of your website’s content” setting. Uncheck that option. But not sure. I’ve never had that problem with setting it up manually.

    2. I actually went over to another plugin. Doesn’t work exactly the same but gives you some nice options and allows you have counts if you want. It also has less overhead on load.
    Check it out here.

    Hope it helps.
Also hoping ShareThis fixes their plugin, because I have that being used on a lot of sites.

    Hi all,

Thank you for reporting on the WordPress issue at hand!
I do want to first apologize for the error that everyone saw the past week.

We have since updated a new WordPress update and should no longer be seeing this issue.

Please check it out again and feel free to email us directly at [email protected].
