Tried to import the .csv and got this error. I have successfully imported the .csv before but did the wrong attribute names to the columns, so tried again. I am trying to populate the product name. Why am I getting an invalid product type , when I want to use “product” below as the name of the product to sell? Any suggestions

  • Hi @justinm1

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that there might be a mismatch between the attribute names you’re using and the ones expected by WooCommerce during the import process. Furthermore, for the “invalid product type” error, it appears that the system is expecting a valid product type (such as simple, variable, grouped, or external) in the respective column, but it’s receiving the product name instead. Is this correct?

As a first step, can you please share how are you importing products on your site via CSV?

Is it thru the built-in Product CSV Importer and Exporter? If so, please share with us the CSV file you are using here for us to check this further.

Otherwise, if this was added thru a third-party plugin or a custom code, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

    Thanks!

    Hi Xue,

The first 3000 items import successfully when i add product type : simple to a new column in the .csv file, but others are skipped

    Hi @justinm1

I would be happy to assist you, but I am not quite sure I understand your reply here: when i add product type : simple to a new column in the .csv file, but others are skipped. Could you please provide additional details or clarify your question, so I can better assist you?

If a screenshot would be helpful, I’d recommend using https://snipboard.io. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

I added a new column to the .CSV I sent you with the title “type” and set all products to simple.

I run the importer and it successfully imports the first 3000 products, then skips the rest , saying some are not valid, or other errors. I will send a screenshot tomorrow, thanks

    Hi @justinm1 ,

    Thanks for clarifying!

Sure, we will be here once you have managed to get the screenshot as requested above ??

Also, please provide more information on the other errors you are seeing when doing the import, this may be helpful.

In the meantime, please can you ensure that you are following each step correctly, as seen in the Product CSV Importer and Exporter guide.

Additionally, please check that the formatting matches what’s expected in the CSV columns and formatting guide.

    Cheers!
