• Hello!

I’m having some issues when logging into my wp-admin area of my website. I can only login to the WordPress dashboard if I disable Wordfence from the file manager under cPanel. I have a login customizer to change the appearance of the login page, but I tried to login with that plugin disabled. Still can’t login. If I delete or change the Wordfence plugin folder name, then its ok, I can login.

I’ve added Wordfence to the exceptions list in Async Javascript. Seems to make no difference.

Apart from the “disable every plugin and enable one by one” method, is there anyone with the same issue here?

    Thanks

Hi @msdesignfoto, thanks for clearly describing what you’re seeing.

It’s interesting that you couldn’t even log in with the customizer plugin disabled. Are you using any Login Security features of Wordfence such as 2FA and/or reCAPTCHA? Usually those tend to conflict with custom pages, or ones generated with other plugins as they won’t follow the precise flow that Wordfence is expecting. Default WooCommerce or WordPress login/registration pages should work though.

Are you seeing any red errors in your login page’s browser console before or after the attempts to log in? If not, it may also be worth trying a fresh (failed) login, then checking your server/PHP error log for fatal errors that may be occurring at that time. Feel free to paste anything here if those error messages can’t help you resolve the problem after seeing them.

    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Hello!

I did a test login in an anonymous browser tab and this is what I got in the browser error display:

    wp-login.php?redirec…ex.php&reauth=1:308 Uncaught

ReferenceError: wp is not defined at wp-login.php?redirec….php&reauth=1:308:1

    wp-login.php?redirec…ex.php&reauth=1:321 Uncaught

ReferenceError: wp is not defined at wp-login.php?redirec….php&reauth=1:321:2 at wp-login.php?redirec….php&reauth=1:322:4

    wp-login.php?redirec…ex.php&reauth=1:343 Uncaught

ReferenceError: wp is not defined at wp-login.php?redirec….php&reauth=1:343:2 at wp-login.php?redirec….php&reauth=1:344:4

    They seem errors in javascript?

Edit: yes I do have 2FA turned on in Wordfence, but I can’t seem to find any option related to reCaptcha, because the Google reCaptcha blue icon appears in the bottom right corner in the login screen.

I better place a new reply so I don’t further edit my prevous reply.

I found the reCaptcha option in Wordfence, I turned it OFF. Refreshed my anonymous browser tab and confirmed the blue icon was not there. I tried to login and it failed again, so it doesn’t seem related to reCaptcha.

I was able to login if I disable 2FA from Wordfence, tough.

I also have this exact same issue. It began somewhere after the 23rd of April.
Siteground host, PHP 7.4.33, Uncode theme if that helps any. Most recent version of WP, and all plugins and themes updated.
I have to remove or rename the Wordfence Login Security Plugin (I’m using only the login security plugin) via FTP in order to log into my site. The issue is the 2FA.

I’m seeing a “jquery is not defined” error in the console, but that error only throws when Wordfence Login Security plugin is enabled. It does not show when it is disabled.
