Getting an error after updating the Wordfence plugin.
[You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘update-plugins wf-menu-badge wf-notification-count-container wf-hidden’ title=’0′ at line 1]
    SELECT slug FROM wp_terms WHERE name=’Wordfence <span class=’update-plugins wf-menu-badge wf-notification-count-container wf-hidden’ title=’0′><span class=’update-count wf-notification-count-value’>0</span></span>’

  • Hi @etrnluv,

Can you confirm you’re using the latest version of Wordfence (6.3.19)?

Anyone have any answers here? It still shows up with this error anytime I am logged in…at the top of the page.
“WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘update-plugins wf-menu-badge wf-notification-count-container wf-hidden’ title=’0′ at line 1]
    SELECT slug FROM wp_terms WHERE name=’Wordfence <span class=’update-plugins wf-menu-badge wf-notification-count-container wf-hidden’ title=’0′><span class=’update-count wf-notification-count-value’>0</span></span>'”
All of my plugins are updated, themes are updated, wp core files are updated….I don’t know what else to do! It is very irritating…and I don’t want my client logging in and panicking!
    Help!

    Hi @etrnluv,

    Sorry about the delayed response.

This error is not caused by Wordfence itself; though we don’t know which plugin or theme is causing it.
It seems some code is trying to parse the WordPress admin menu items and when it encounters the Wordfence admin menu item (the one that shows a notification number) it throws this error.

Could you please send us a Diagnostics report so we can try and identify which theme or plugin is causing this.

    • Go to the Wordfence –> Tools –> Diagnostics page
    • Click the Send Report by Email button
    • Send the report to yann[at]wordfence[dot]com

    Thank you.

    Hi etrnluv,
I know it’s been a while since you reported this. Just wanted to check in and see if you are still having this issue. I’m convinced it’s one of your other plugins or your theme that is doing this, and what they seem to be doing is trying to parse the contents of the WordPress admin sidebar, and failing when they get to the Wordfence menu item that has a notification bubble.
