• Hello all,

First of all i don’t know if this question should be in this section.

I installed wordpress 4.6 and on some other subdomains version 4.6.1. I was busy to install some plugins or update the ones that are installed. Even updating WordPress 4.6 to 4.6.1 gave the same kind of error…
Does anyone know what this error means?

    Error:
Installation failed: The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_MISSING_FILE (-4) : Missing archive file ‘/tmp/jetpack.4.3.1-YwsqAF.tmp’

    Kind regards,
    Jan-Willem

  • Hi Jan-Willem,

I don’t know the answer to this myself but have found the following solution… https://birchenough.co.uk/pclzip_err_missing_file-4-missing-archive-file-cwindowstempwhatever-tmp/

It’s a different directory name but I believe the principal is the same. You just need to adjust the directory name to match what’s reported on yours and, hopefully, this should assist.

I ran into this issue on a website hosted at Bluehost. The error message was “Update Failed: The package could not be installed.”

It took a couple of chats, but it got fixed when the tech set the PHP version to PHP 5.4 (Single php.ini).

Hope this helps somebody dealing with this frustrating issue! ;-D

    Chuck
