Error when trying to upload media from second site

    Hello,

    when I try to upload an image from my second site in Multisite version it gives me this error:

    Unable to create directory /usr/local/pem/vhosts/121657/webspace/siteapps/61115/htdocs/wp-content/blogs.dir/2/files/2010/09. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    I checked all the folders up to webspace are writable by the server…don’t have access beyond that.

    There is no folder named 2.
    When I load images from the original blog (existing before I switched to multisite) it saves them in the uploads folder like it did when it was a single site.

  • Right, it’s saying that not only is the folder not there – it doesn’t have permission to change it.

    Change permission on the blogs.dir folder.

    If you don’t have that folde,r then you missed the instructions to create it under /wp-content/

    Thank you! When I set this up I was such a newbie, that I didn’t know that ‘create a directory’ meant ‘create a folder’ – so at the time I created a text file (how embarrassing) with blog.dir and then wondered for ages why it wasn’t working (hihihi) ??

    Anyway, thanks for having me revisit my elementary error, as now it works wonderfully.
