    Hi,

When I am trying to instal a new plugin I am getting this message:

    “Not Acceptable!

An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. This error was generated by Mod_Security.”

Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it?
I have contacted my host and they say it is not on their side.

    Thanks for the assistance ??

You’ll need to contact your hosting provider about that. It looks like mod_security is not properly configured.

    Thanks James.
I just did that and it is kind of of sorted.

The issue is that the site is on a temporary url whilst in development.
When it is finished I had planned to point it to the correct domain.

Although the host (HostGator) has now white-listed the site they say that I will stop seeing the message only when I migrated the site.

The message still appears and it is annoying as it stops me from installing new plugins and therefore finishing the site. Catch 22…

I guess that I will have to migrate it unfinished, not a great solution.

Yes, they can be install manually but as soon as I am trying to configure them through the control panel then I get the dreaded message.

Yeah, that’s bound to be something with the host’s mod_security configuration, definitely not a WordPress thing. ??

They really should fix that for you. Server-wide security should not be blocking basic WordPress functions (something which powers about 23% of the web).
