Error when editing Sidebar

I’m new to WordPress and I am trying to get rid of several Meta links in the “sidebar” (not all the links)

When I change the “sidebar” in the “Theme Editor” and hit “Update File”, I get the following error.

I even get this error when I change nothing and hit “Update File”
