Error when accept friend request

I’m using version 1.0.4 and I’m getting the same error message:

Fatal error: Cannot unset string offsets in?/home/theext7/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-extended-friendship-request/bp-extended-friendship-request.php?on line?373

This only seems to happen when a new user is registering for my site, and my custom function automatically friends the user with the user who invited them using the friends_add_friend function.

I only get this error message when I have force_accept set to true. When I set it to false and the user tries to accept the request, I get the buddypress error message that says “there was a problem completing this friend request”, but the friend connection does go through.

Is there a way to programmatically add a default friend request message via friends_add_friend?
