• I am using the latest version of The Events Calendar and am getting following error when i try to list the events for a particular day:

Something went wrong while fetching events.
    The request status is: 200
The error thrown was: SyntaxError: expected expression, got '<'

This happens when using the widget, selecting the date icon to list all events in that day and then selecting the Date link at the top of the calendar.

I have tried disabling security plugins to see if there is any conflict, but no difference.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi,

Please try to turn off “Use frontend rendering” and “Use advanced JS cache” options in Events -> Settings –> Advanced.

Hi Benjamin, thanks for your response. Unfortunately that doesn’t make any difference. The only option i have checked on the Advanced Settings page is ‘disable gzip compression’. Any other ideas?

Do you use a cache plugin?

The website is currently in two locations (one live and one development). The issue occurs on both installations. The development site does not have a caching plugin installed and the error still occurs.

It still occurs with no caching plugin, the security plugin deactivated and the options you suggested unchecked in Events – Settings – Advanced

    Thanks for your time

Further to the above. I have also tried De-activating ALL plugins (except the Events Calendar) and i still get the same error. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what the problem is???
