• Hi,

I just saw this message from this plugin on my site:

Error validating access token: Session has expired on Sunday, 23-Aug-20 02:12:04 PDT. The current time is Wednesday, 30-Sep-20 08:25:29 PDT.

Then I checked a few other sites that have this plugin and they all have the exact same expiration time.

    A few questions on this.

    1) Any idea why this has happened? Are the tokens the plugin uses going to expire all the time? So if I renew, it’s going to expire again? After how long? Is there another way?

    2) Can I only get a new token by removing the account and then add it again?

    3) Feature request 1: keep showing images by using the feed cache when the token has expired, and do not show the error to regular website visitors.

    4) Feature request 2: send en e-mail to the ‘Administration Email Address’ (as indicated on the WP settings page) to warn the administrator that the token needs to be renewed.

    Thanks
    JP

    Hi JP
this happens because instagram adds the expiration date on their API response, there is a change to improve data protection, the idea is to keep on track permissions users gives about their data. For personal accounts expiration time is 60 days, for business is 90 days.
Yes you have to generate a new token relinking the account, cache workes with latest reload and we have on pending tasks the advise about expiration deadline.

    Ok, thanks for the info

    Hi, I’m same problem.

If we get a Long-Lived Page Access Token as below, perhaps we can solve this problem.

    Awesome, thanks!

Hi, I am reopening this ticket because auto renew doesn’t work

I updated the plugin as follows
    v3.0.7 => v3.1.0 02 Dec 20
    v3.1.0 => v3.1.1 04 Dec 20

And after the update I checked the settings. It indicates: 2020-12-05 (Autorenew)

So today 6 december, I check the website and the feed is not loading on the page.

When I go to the settings it still says it would renew 5 december.
If I click the icon to manually refresh, I get an error “Invalid OAuth access token”

    See this screenshot.

    Maybe renewal cam to late.

The account in the backend says

    2020-12-05 (Autorenew)

On the front end it now says:

Error validating access token: Session has expired on Friday, 04-Dec-20 14:05:46 PST. The current time is Thursday, 10-Dec-20 02:45:07 PST.

So you wanted to renew on 5/12 while it already expired on 4/12.

    Hi, any news on this?

I just updated to version 3.1.5 on my test site.

The feed did not show any results. After login to the website, the feed gives the following error message.

    Unable to get results
Error validating access token: Session has expired on Monday, 21-Dec-20 04:45:10 PST. The current time is Monday, 28-Dec-20 01:40:08 PST.
    Can’t find the tag rotterdam.

However, in the social feed gallery account it says the token for the business account expires on

    2021-01-20 (Autorenew)

Looks like there is something wrong there.

    See also my previous message.

    Thanks
    JP

    Hi JP
could happen, renewal is set to apply ten days before expiring date.. so maybe fails this time due the short time.
    please update mannually this time.
Up to now we didn′t get any other user with similar issue.
    sorry for problems caused
    regards

Hi, no that can’t be the case because from 21 December to 20 January is 30 days. So the token was already expired at least 30 days before renewal.

The same happened on 3 other sites. I have not seen yet that the auto renewal actually works.

I think there is something else going on.

    JP
