    Hello,

i have a little problem with trackserver. With Osmand tracking is working. But i need an app that is running with android and ios.
So i tried TrackMe. I have set everything up and the App is beginning to track. The first position ist send correctly. But after that i get this message: Error updating position (cloud sharing is not supported by the server)

I am using WordPress Version 5.2.2–de_DE (i know it should be 5.3 but i cannot find that version and with Osmand its working with Version 5.2.2–de_DE).

The password for the page is: livetracking

Can somebody give me some advice please?

    Thx

    best regards

    Michael

Hi, this almost sounds like there has been a change in the TrackMe protocol, like the app expects a different response than Trackserver is sending.

    I’ll look into it ASAP!

Before I forget: can you tell me which version of TrackMe you are running?

    Hello Martijn,

first of all thank you very much for your help.

Today there was an update for TrackMe to Version V 4.1.1

I tried live tracking but it still does not update the live position. The map only shows the GPS-Point from yesterday and the point from this morning.

Still: “Error updating position (cloud sharing is not supported by the server”

I also reached out to the support for my webspace. They said the server is not a problem for this kind of traffic.

    best regards

    Hi Michael,
i’m using TrackMe with WordPress too. Livetracking works fine. I’m getting the same Error “Error updating position (cloud sharing is not supported by the server)” when i try to start tracking using the cloud symbol at the bottom of the screen.
Did you try the red circle at the top of the screen to start tracking?

    Kind regards

Hi Michael, Like Leo said, I am only able to reproduce it when enable the cloud sharing feature, which is indeed not supported by Trackserver. If you disable cloud sharing, it shoud just work. I used the latest version of TrackMe on a cycling trip this morning, and I didn’t have any problems.

If you disable the cloud sharing feature in TrackMe, I would be very surprised if the app still gave you the error that cloud sharing is not supported by the server. That just doesn’t make sense.

That said, I think the cloud sharing feature could be interesting, so I’ll put support for it on my TODO list. IIRC, earlier versions of TrackMe only had cloud sharing with the official TrackMe servers and not with custom servers like Trackserver, but that seems to have changed now.

    Hi Martijn,
thx for your reply. So it is not possibale to see the live position while recording? Only with Osmand or is there an alternative? On iOS Osmand seems not to suppord livetracking. Only with Android.
Hart times for newbs like me ??

But thanks for your work Martijn.

I’m not sure I understand the question.

During live tracking with TrackMe, your live position would be visible on a Trackserver map that has ‘user=@’ in the [tsmap] shortcode (that being the whole point of Trackserver’s existence), but I also think that the TrackMe will display your current track as long as tracking is on, even if the postition cannot be sent to the server for some reason. Use the ‘live map’ feature for that.

Just don’t use the cloud sharing feature, it doesn’t work with Tracksever.

To be complete: “cloud sharing” in TrackMe (the ‘cloud’ button at the bottom) means you’re sharing your location with other people. It does NOT mean online tracking. That’s what the red dot ‘recording’ button at the top-right is for.

    Is this helpful?

    Best regards,
    Martijn.
