Error: Unexpected USPS Response

    My customers are having a problem with calculating their shipping costs. In the log file, this is what’s happening:

    Error: Unexpected USPS Response: <?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>
    <Error><Number>80040B1A</Number><Description>Authorization failure. You are not authorized to connect to this server.</Description><Source>USPSCOM::DoAuth</Source></Error> (calculate_shipping)

    It seems like behind the scenes, whatever the WooCommerce service is using for the USPS shipping API is not being allowed access.

    I did test while in debug mode, and everything worked fine. I switched out of debug mode. Now, I’ve got a few customers who have tried to place orders today, and this is the error I’m getting.

    Hi @dvlwearsparsley,

    The USPS shipping rates service was down on Friday. However, it appears to have been resolved.

    Are you still encountering this issue?

    Hi Nabeel,

    I had to switch to flat rate shipping because my customers were having problems with their orders on my launch day. I haven’t switched back to it, because I’m reluctant it will happen again in my stores infancy. Does this sort of thing happen often? Was it USPS that was having the problem, or this plugin?

    Hello @dvlwearsparsley!

    I apologize that you were affected by our USPS outage on Friday. This does not happen often, but was unfortunately an issue at USPS specific to our account. We’re still investigating the root cause with the fine folks over at the USPS.

    If you haven’t configured a “fall back” rate yet, I encourage you to do so. It will function the same as flat rate shipping, but only in the case that USPS does not respond with a rate quote.
