Thank you for your report. I regret the trouble you’re having with the [mla_tag_cloud] shortcode.

Without seeing the complete text of your [mla_tag_cloud] and all its parameters I can’t be sure of the cause. I believe, however, you have encountered a defect in MLA v2.31 related to the mla_output parameter.

If you do not have an mla_output parameter in your shortcode or if you have an mla_output=flat parameter in your shortcode you will get this PHP Notice message. It is harmless but annoying.

The latest MLA Development Version dated 20160727 contains a fix for the defect. To get the Development Version, follow the instructions in this earlier topic:

Shortcode not working in (special) widget

It would be great if you can install the Development Version and let me know how it works for you. If that’s not possible you can also avoid the notice by adding an mla_markup="tag-cloud-ul" parameter to your shortcode.

If neither of those fixes work for you, could you post the complete text of your shortcode so I can reproduce your problem on my system?

You can also turn off PHP Notice messages to suppress the message until you get a fix that works.

I will leave this topic unresolved until I hear back from you. Thanks for your understanding.

    Hi David,

I really appreciate you looking into this, and the work you do with MLA, sorry its taken so long to get back to you but I have been travelling and not had much time in front of the computer.

The latest update to MLA seems to have resolved the issue

    thanks once again

    Mat.
