    Hi, I need help.
I tried to install the latest Jetpack update but I keep getting a critical error on the site. I had to restore the site to a previous version.
I don’t know if I can post the error screen here because it contains data from my site and I don’t know if I can share it here in public.

    Can you please help me?

  • You’re not alone. This has happened to me on every single client site I’ve updated to 10.5. Each site is different, different plugins, themes, etc. Sites are on different hosting.

There sure seems to be something wrong with 10.5 and its update process.

However, in *every case* (so far), after the critical error, I’m able to refresh the page, the plugin is updated, and the errors go away.

In the mean time, I’ve been debating manually updating each site or just holding off updating the rest of my client sites until I see a new version to address the issue.

Downgrading like you’re doing, is probably the smartest path. ??

    Hi, @talkiewalkie,

Do you still have troubles with Jetpack at all?
The issue you reported was caused by a glitch that shouldn’t cause any issues on your site. The error resolves itself during the process of updating the Jetpack plugin, and the error should not occur again now that the plugin update is complete.

If you still have issues with that, then I’d like to run some more tests with you on your site to try to figure out what’s happening. Could you contact us via this contact form and mention this thread? Thanks!

    Hi Stef,
I honestly haven’t updated your plugin since that error occurred. If you can confirm that the error has been fixed in the current update, then I will go ahead and update the plugin on my site.
If any other issues arise, I will update you immediately.

    Thank you in advance!
